New Starter Information
Our normal intake procedures are for children starting in our nursery class, the term after their third birthday or children starting in our reception class in the September after their fourth birthday. For admissions at other times please contact the school office for further information.
The school follows admission guidelines from Cumbria County Council and can be found in our policies section. Admission forms for the nursery class may be obtained from the school office and returned to the school office. Admissions to the reception class are organised centrally and forms can be found on the Cumbria County Council website. Please feel free to come and speak to school if you would like further information.
We are delighted that you have chosen our school and look forward to welcoming you and your child into our happy school community.
At Petteril Bank Community School, we take a lot of care in planning your child’s transition into our nursery or reception class. We understand that this is an important milestone and we strive to make it an exciting and enjoyable experience for children and their parents.
We encourage parents to visit our school before your child starts in the nursery or reception class. Children are invited to attend a taster session to help them settle into our foundation stage classroom. Our teaching staff will visit you at home before your child starts at our school, giving you an opportunity to develop a good relationship with staff and for your child to meet their new teacher in a familiar place.
Parents will be given additional information during the home visits, including our WOW moments cards, where you can tell us about the exciting new things your child has been doing at home.
We hope you will find the sessions in school and home visits helpful, if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact the school prior to your child starting.
We look forward to getting to know you and your child and welcome you into our happy school community.
